Experience and Service
Shannon Boschy will bring a professional, community-focused approach as a trustee.
Shannon has been a self-employed professional in finance since 2004. He is a Chartered Investment Manager and long-time advisor to successful small business owners on complex tax and succession issues. He is currently a partner with Ottawa’s largest independent portfolio management firm.
His community contributions in Chelsea and Ottawa span two decades holding numerous executive and leadership roles in business and non-profit organizations. He served as board member and treasurer of the Chelsea Foundation, the organization that built the Meredith Community Centre and hockey Arena; he served as co-founding member of the Chelsea Seniors Housing Committee which built a thirty-unit age-in-community housing facility. He coached and coordinating age-groups for children’s soccer.
In recent years he has worked with parents from across Canada as co-founder of the Parents’ Rights Coalition of Canada, a resource and network hub for regional activist groups fighting against schools keeping secrets from parents and supporting leaders contesting the politicization of schools and classrooms.
During a temporary diversion from his career in finance, he did a one-year contract as the high-school math and science department for a small private school. His students all had unique needs, behavior issues, and learning challenges, from FAS to Asperger’s to severe ADHD. He has hands-on experience as teacher in extremely challenging learning environments and was responsible for developing learning materials and grading eighteen math and science courses to ministry standards.
He is the current president of the Ottawa Centre Federal Conservative Riding Association.
In March of this year he co-organized and facilitated a public panel on the drug crisis in Ottawa. His current project is supporting leadership development in the 18-25 cohort, co-facilitating a workshop series on meaning, purpose, and social contribution.
